Episode N°5
Inner Transition
The video “Orphans of Babylon” is the result of a long process, physical and mental, initiated by a dream about an orphanage in the rocks and a tower of babylon made out of papier mâché.
The video can be watched every day from 10am – 6pm until 31st January at neimënster in a specially prepared video box.
The video “Orphans of Babylon” is the result of a long physical and mental journey, triggered by a dream played out in an orphanage in the rocks next to a papier-mâché Tower of Babel. This dream took the artist to a Celtic place of worship near her home, where she came across Victor Hugo’s book “L’Homme Qui Rit” (The Laughing Man) (a love story between two marginalised orphans).
This story will accompany her on a week-long journey through the forest, during which she retraced an ancient path between the Celtic place and the basilica at the end of the path. Sleeping under the stars, on a carpet made for the occasion, she spends her time thinking and feeling her body become animal again.
At the basilica, she meets the priest Francis Erasmy, to whom she will ask many questions. The video is an attempt to link all these impressions to make a synthesis of this process which will have lasted two years.
Nora Wagner is a multidisciplinary artist of Luxembourg origin. In her work, she tries to follow her intuitions in order to give shape to what wants to be shown. She often works in collaboration with very different people, exchange and surprises being essential for her approach and her joy.
For this video the artist Bertrand Dufau created the music and wrote an accompanying text and the filmmaker Kim El Ouardi accompanied her technically and emotionally in several of the stages.
